European Commissioner for Equality and Crisis Management Adja Labib has arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit. She announced this on January 12 in the social network X (former Twitter).

In the post, she wished good morning in Ukrainian and said she had come to "support the nation in the midst of winter."

According to Lyabib, the EU continues to provide Ukraine and its citizens with strong humanitarian aid.

The day before, German foreign and security policy expert Christian Mölling said the West plans to send soldiers to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire between Kiev and Moscow. He added that the defense ministries of different countries were already discussing scenarios "so that politicians could outline options for action".

Before that, on January 10, military expert Aleksey Leonkov pointed out in a conversation with Izvestiya that the West understands that Ukraine has already lost in the conflict with Russia despite the continuation of the European Union's (EU) assistance. In addition, European officials do not know what steps on the Ukrainian issue US President-elect Donald Trump will take after his inauguration and what role Brussels will play in his plan.

On the same day, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said that the administration of US President Joe Biden has not had time to spend about $4 billion in funds for Ukraine. It is noted that the funds will come at the disposal of the team of the elected leader of the state Donald Trump.

Western countries have increased military and financial support for Ukraine against the background of the special operation of the Russian Federation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian President on February 24, 2022 after the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
