Norway urged NATO to urgently start negotiations with Russia

The North Atlantic Alliance should immediately begin security talks with Russia, Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, said on January 12.
"NATO should today start negotiations with Russia on a European security agreement based on its indivisibility," he wrote on the social network X (former Twitter).
The expert accompanied his post with a map of Russian troops advancing in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).
Earlier, on December 23, 2023, French military analyst Alan Corvez noted in a conversation with Izvestia that NATO prepared the crisis in Ukraine in an attempt to protect its hegemony. Russia offered the US and the alliance to conclude a treaty on security guarantees back in 2021, the expert recalled.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said last November that the West had put an end to the agreements on the indivisibility of security. In recent years, they have stopped adhering to this principle, especially after the coup d'état in Ukraine, the foreign minister pointed out.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
