In the U.S. state of California, the Getty Museum is being evacuated because of the intensification of fires. This was reported by The New York Times.

The material from January 11 notes that because of the fires the museum staff was evacuated, only security personnel remained. The Getty Center itself will be closed until January 16.

It is specified that it contains paintings by famous artists: Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt van Rijn, Edgar Degas and Claude Monet.

Numerous wildfires in Los Angeles were reported on January 8. According to the latest reports, the death toll has risen to 16 people. In connection with the fires in the state declared a major disaster mode. About 12.3 thousand buildings were destroyed. The predicted damage from the disaster may amount to about $52-57 billion.

More than 1 thousand American prisoners were sent to extinguish the fire, which should contain the spread of fire. Mexico also sent a group of firefighters to Los Angeles to fight the fire.
