Rosgvardiya fighters thwarted a drone attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Zaporizhzhya region. This was reported in the press service of the agency on Sunday, January 12.

"A group of strike UAVs was traveling in the direction of strategic and civilian objects. None of the enemy drones reached the target - all of them were neutralized in time with the use of REB and small arms," - stated in the message in the Telegram-channel.

The attack was repelled by Rosgvardia mobile groups on pickup trucks with machine guns.

It is specified that also demining groups of the Rosgvardiya successfully neutralized ammunition, including an unexploded US cluster charge found in the area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

"The battalion was born in the Kursk battles."

Earlier, on January 9, a mortar calculation of an artillery unit of the Rosgvardiya inflicted fire damage on AFU personnel in Kharkiv region. It was specified that the artillerymen were adjusting their fire in real time, assisted by units equipped with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
