The Swiss People's Party has called on Defense Minister Amherd to resign

The Swiss People's Party (UDC) on January 11 demanded that the country's Defense Minister Viola Amherd resign because she cannot ensure the country's security.

"The fact that Switzerland can no longer ensure its internal and external security is the result of political mistakes and blunders, namely in the Ministry of Defense (VBS) and in the army. Amherd prefers to deal with gender issues in the army rather than equipment issues. These are wrong priorities," the statement released on the website said.

The UDC also accused the minister of promoting Switzerland's rapprochement with NATO, which involves the country in foreign conflicts and violates its neutrality.
