At least 10 people were killed in an airplane crash in northwestern Colombia. This was reported by Xinhua news agency on January 11.

"There are no survivors. There are 37 people working at the site and we are accelerating the second phase, which consists of retrieving the bodies and coordinating with the Judicial Police," said Carlos Rios Puerta, director of Antioquia's risk management department.

He said unfavorable weather conditions are complicating the search process, as it has to be conducted on the ground without the support of helicopters.

The Pacifica Travel plane was reported missing on Wednesday, January 8, while en route from Jurado to Medellin. It crashed in rural Urrao, a municipality in the northwestern Colombian department of Antioquia. Two crew members and eight passengers were on board.

Earlier, on January 9, a plane carrying five passengers crashed in the Brazilian city of Ubatuba on a beach, killing the pilot. Four passengers, including two children, were rescued.

Before that, on January 2, the plane crashed and fell on a building in the city of Fullerton in the US state of California. 11 people were injured.
