Msta-S self-propelled howitzers of the Zapad group of troops have hit an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control point, camouflaged machine-gun points and Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) personnel in the zone of the special military operation. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 12.

After scouts of the "West" group of troops in one of the directions in the zone of the special military operation with the help of a drone identified a UAV control point, camouflaged machine-gun points and an accumulation of AFU manpower, the Msta-S self-propelled howitzer crews pointed the guns at targets and worked on them.

The UAV crews carried out fire correction and target engagement control. The real-time objective control footage obtained from the drones made it possible to verify that the targets had been destroyed.

Earlier, on January 9, artillery crews of Hyacinth-S self-propelled cannons of the All-Union Army of the "West" group of forces, while carrying out firing tasks , hit camouflaged platoon strongholds and AFU personnel. Real-time objective control footage obtained from the UAV confirmed the destruction of the targets.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
