Mexico has sent firefighters to the U.S. to help fight the fires


Mexico has sent a team of firefighters to California to help Los Angeles fight massive wildfires. This was reported by Reuters on January 11.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum wrote on her page in the social network X (former Twitter) that a group of firefighters was being sent to California. She attached photos of rescue workers holding Mexican and California flags on an airport runway.
Sheinbaum added that Mexico is a country of integrity and solidarity.
Earlier on Jan. 8, emergency personnel from several other U.S. states arrived in California to fight wildfires. It is reported that 60 teams from Oregon, 45 from Washington State, 15 from Utah and 10 teams from New Mexico have already arrived or will soon reach the state.
On the same day, current U.S. President Joe Biden declared a major disaster declaration in the state due to wildfires. He also ordered the release of federal aid to the victims.
Before that, on January 7, emergency services of Los Angeles urged residents to be ready to evacuate due to raging wildfires in the state. NBC News television channel reported that the fire began in the neighborhood of Eaton Canyon. Strong winds are fueling the fire. In addition, in the evacuation zone was the residence of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, who said that with all her heart sympathizes with those affected by the fire.
