In DR Congo, a policeman was sentenced to execution for the murder of PRC citizens

The military prosecutor's office in Mwene-Ditu, Democratic Republic of Congo, sentenced police officer Mutombo Kanyemeshia, nicknamed Meshan-Meshant, to death for killing two PRC citizens who were paving roads. This was reported by Okapi radio network on January 11.
The military court delivered the verdict after a second public hearing. The policeman was charged with two counts: murder of two Chinese nationals and attempted murder of a third.
The accused confessed that he committed the crime out of revenge. Kanyemeshia claimed that one of the dead men spat on him when asked to pay his bonus and allow him to spend New Year's Eve with his family.
The police officer was reportedly tasked with protecting these Chinese nationals.
Earlier on December 24, 2024, a 33-year-old illegal migrant Guatemalan national was charged with arson and murdering a woman in a New York City subway car. The assailant, Sebastian Sapeta-Calil, approached the woman and, without saying a word, set fire to her clothing, which burst into flames in seconds. Surveillance video shows him sitting on a bench and watching the woman burn.
