The Ukrainian Education Ministry plans to make the study of physics, biology and chemistry optional in schools from 2027. This was reported by Strana.ua on January 11, citing the Education Ministry.

"Ukrainian language and literature, history of Ukraine, English, mathematics, physical culture and "Defense of Ukraine" will remain compulsory," the publication informed.

In addition, foreign literature, world history, civic education and geography will cease to be compulsory subjects.

The publication also states that the Ministry of Education plans to make a profile education system from 2027, dividing it into three main areas: language, social and humanitarian and physics.

Earlier, on October 3, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada decided to ban only Russian language in all schools in Ukraine, while it is possible to speak any other language. It is specified that in private educational institutions it is also impossible to choose Russian as the language of instruction.
