Russian tourists detained in Tunisia in November are still in custody without officially filed charges. Anastasia, the fiancée of one of the travelers, told Izvestia on January 11.

"The lawyer is now working to establish communication with the detainees (they are held in different prisons, and some are transferred from one to another) and to find out their point of view on what is going on. Also, the lawyer is trying to get permission from the Tunisian side to transfer and transfer money to the personal accounts of the detainees so that they could buy some food," the girl specified.

She added that the tourists were visited by an employee of the Russian Embassy, the diplomatic mission is monitoring the situation.

The detention of a group of Russian tourists in Tunisia became known on December 17, 2024. They were sent to the prison Mornagia, famous for cruel conditions and torture. Then the fiancée of one of the detainees said that the travelers were visited by representatives of the consulate, but due to the lack of interpreters, the investigation is moving very slowly.

On the same day, the diplomatic mission said that the Russian Embassy in Tunisia was in contact with the country's authorities regarding the detained Russians. After familiarizing themselves with the situation, the diplomats noted that the rights of the Russian citizens placed in prison are not violated. None of them has any complaints about their state of health.
