The crew of a Su-34 supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) has hit armored vehicles and personnel of Ukrainian troops in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 11.

The strike with aviation bombs with a universal planning and correction module was carried out on reconnaissance targets.

Having received confirmation of their destruction, the crew safely returned to the departure airfield.

Earlier in the day, the Defense Ministry reported that the Russian military had repelled nine counterattacks by militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region. In addition, an army aviation crew on a Mi-28 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group disrupted the rotation of enemy units in the region's border area.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
