Rosaviatsia extends recommendation with ban on night flights to Israel

Rosaviatsia has extended until February 11 the recommendation for airlines, prohibiting night flights to Israel from 01:00 to 07:00 Moscow time. This was reported by a source in the industry on Saturday, January 11.
The restrictions were extended after analyzing the situation in the Middle East, TASS notes.
Similar restrictions on flights were introduced a month earlier.
In October 2024, the agency imposed temporary restrictions on flights in the skies of Israel, Iran and Iraq, allowing flights only at certain times (from 09:00 to 19:00 Moscow time). These restrictions, imposed because of the situation in the Middle East, were extended several times.
On October 1, Iran launched a large-scale attack on Israeli territory, firing about 400 rockets. On the same day, Rosaviatsia recommended that Russian airlines refrain from flying to airports in Israel, Iran and Iraq for security reasons.
Later, on October 26, Israel carried out a retaliatory attack on Iranian territory. The Islamic Republic threatened repercussions in the coming days. Against the backdrop of this strike, Iran closed its airspace, due to which six flights had to return to Russian airports.
The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
