- Russian Armed Forces servicemen told about the liberation of the Shevchenko settlement in the DNR

Soldiers of the 74th Independent Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Center Group of Forces have spoken about the liberation of the Shevchenko settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). Images of their story and the situation in the settlement were distributed by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 11.
It is specified that first the Guardsmen rushed into the forest belt located near the settlement and with the help of drones conducted reconnaissance of firing positions and places of accumulation of living force of Ukrainian troops.
Artillery and attack UAVs were used to destroy the exposed positions. Having suppressed the main firing points of the Ukrainian fighters, the compound's assault teams captured the positions under constant attacks by enemy kamikaze drones.
After mopping up the forest belt, the attackers launched a night assault and, moving from shelter to shelter, entrenched themselves in the first houses, and in the morning several groups outflanked the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and destroyed the rest of the garrison.
"We entered the Shevchenko settlement at night. Part of the squad went in and had already made contact, the next day our main troops began to pull up, and we began to advance, to take positions, to liberate these territories from the invaders," shared Deputy Platoon Commander Private Vasily Burakov.
The liberation of the Shevchenko settlement became known earlier in the day. Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the command and personnel of the 74th Guards Brigade, noting the courage, heroism and bravery of the compound's servicemen in the course of fulfilling their military duty as part of the "Center" group.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
