The Russian military repelled nine counterattacks by the AFU in the border area of the Kursk region

The Russian Armed Forces (AF) have repelled nine counterattacks by Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) fighters in Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday, January 11.

The units of the "North" group of forces defeated the formations of the tank, two mechanized, two airborne assault brigades and two brigades of territorial defense of the AFU in the areas of nine settlements in the region. Nine enemy counterattacks were repulsed.

As a result of the actions of the Russian army, the AFU lost up to 240 people during the day. Four mortars, four vehicles, an armored fighting vehicle and an electronic warfare station were also destroyed.

According to the Defense Ministry, in total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost more than 50.8 thousand soldiers, 296 tanks, more than 1.5 thousand armored fighting vehicles and other military equipment.

Earlier in the day, an army aviation crew on a Mi-28 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
