Belousov congratulated the military on the liberation of the Shevchenko settlement

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the command and personnel of the 74th Independent Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade on the liberation of the Shevchenko settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic.

"As a result of your professional and decisive actions, the settlement of Shevchenko in the Donetsk People's Republic has been liberated. Today, as for many years, the servicemen of the unit honorably fulfill their combat tasks in the fight against neo-Nazis, confidently pushing them back," reads the text of the telegram, which was published by the press service of the Defense Ministry on January 11.

Belousov noted that the brigade's servicemen show unparalleled courage, heroism and bravery while performing their military duty as part of the "Center" group. To date, more than 6,000 military personnel of the unit have been awarded state decorations and departmental insignia.

In conclusion, the head of the Defense Ministry thanked the personnel of the brigade for the successful performance of combat missions and expressed confidence that they will continue to serve Russia with honor.

The liberation of the Shevchenko settlement became known earlier in the day. In addition, during the day the Central Group defeated the manpower and equipment of three mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and a brigade of the National Guard on the territory of the DNR.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
