The fiancée of one of the 11 Russians detained in Tunisia has appealed for help to the country's President Cairo Said. She sent a letter requesting the release of her fiancé through the Higher Committee for Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (CSDHLF).

"The fate of 11 citizens of the Russian Federation is in your hands. I very much request your assistance for the speedy release of my fiancé and my friends," reads the woman's message, a copy of which was at the disposal of "RIA Novosti".

The letter notes that in the cells of the prison, where the detained Russians are staying, there are no bedding, including beds, as well as no personal hygiene products. In addition, the detainees experience discomfort due to problems with hot water, according to the text.

According to the woman, all the conditions named to her can negatively affect the health of her lover.

The detention of a group of Russian tourists in Tunisia became known on December 17, 2024. They were sent to the prison Mornagia, which is famous for cruel conditions and torture. The fiancée of one of the tourists said that the travelers were visited by representatives of the consulate, but due to the lack of interpreters, the investigation is moving very slowly. The girl's lawyer added that together with the detainees there is another Russian woman who is accused of stealing a yacht.

On the same day, the diplomatic mission said that the Russian Embassy in Tunisia is in contact with the country's authorities regarding the detained Russians. Diplomats after familiarizing themselves with the situation noted that the rights of Russian citizens placed in prison are not violated. None of them has any complaints about their state of health.
