- Emergency threat regime introduced in the Black Sea region of Crimea due to fuel oil stains
The emergency threat regime of municipal nature was introduced due to the identified fuel oil stains in the Chernomorsky district in the west of Crimea. About it on Saturday, January 11, reported the head of the district administration Alexander Dudinov.
"In the Chernomorsky district the emergency threat regime of municipal nature was introduced because of the identified fuel oil stains after the crash of two tankers in the Kerch Strait. The situation is unpleasant, but controlled. With colleagues, members of the commission on emergency discussed a plan of action," he wrote in Telegram-channel.
According to Dudinov, specialized services and volunteers continue cleaning the contaminated area. Cleaning of fuel oil is planned in three more places - on the coast in the villages of Okunevka, Znamenskoe and Gromovo.
Tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" due to bad weather crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On Putin's instructions, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
Later, on January 3, an oil slick was discovered in Sevastopol at the entrance to Balaklava Bay. The next day, it was reported that fuel oil was moving northward along the Crimean coast, and Sevastopol declared a state of emergency of regional character.
Oil slicks were also found on January 5 in the area of Kapsel Bay in Crimea, and on January 7 - near the coast of Yevpatoria. The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, said on January 8 that the situation with fuel oil emissions in the region could worsen and the risk of pollution growth was high.
