Washington Capitals captain and forward Alexander Ovechkin finished the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season without points for the third consecutive time.

HC "Washington" lost to "Montreal" in overtime with a score of 2:3.

For today's game, the Russian hockey player made only one shot on the enemy's goal.

The day before it was reported that on the main page of the NHL website placed a counter with the number of goals that remain to score Ovechkin in the regular season to break Wayne Gretzky's record. The counter is currently set at 23.

The Russian forward is second on the list of top snipers in NHL history. Now the total number of his goals in championships is 872. He needs to score 23 goals to update the league record, which belongs to Gretzky (894).
