An army aviation crew on a Mi-28 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 11.

While carrying out a combat mission to support the Ground Forces, the pilots of the Army Aviation carried out missile launches at specified coordinates and hit the armored vehicles and manpower of the AFU.

After receiving confirmation from the aviation gunner that the target had been successfully destroyed, the crew performed an anti-missile maneuver with the firing of heat traps to prevent the missiles from hitting the man-portable air defense system (MANPADS).

Earlier, on January 9, an Army aviation crew on a Ka-52 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group struck air missiles at AFU manpower, armored vehicles and a stronghold in the border area of Kursk Region. An aerial gunner confirmed the successful destruction of the target.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
