- SpaceX has launched another group of Starlink mini-satellites into orbit
Falcon 9 carrier rocket of SpaceX company SpaceX of American entrepreneur Ilon Musk has put into orbit 21 satellites for the Internet coverage network of the Starlink system. This is stated on the official website of the company on Friday, January 10.
Among the satellites sent into orbit 13 - with the possibility of direct cellular communication.
The flight, which became a record 25th for the first stage of the rocket, was made from the space station at Cape Canaveral in Florida at 14:11 local time (22:11 Moscow time).
The first stage landed in the Atlantic Ocean about eight minutes after liftoff, as planned. It will be delivered to shore by a SpaceX unmanned craft.
Meanwhile, the Falcon 9 upper stage continued to launch the Starlink spacecraft into low Earth orbit.
Earlier, December 4, 2024, the company SpaceX reported that the Falcon 9 launch vehicle put into orbit 24 mini-satellites for the Internet coverage network of the Starlink system.
Before that, on October 27, the press service of the company reported that the new satellites were successfully put into orbit for the global orbital Internet network Starlink. In total, 22 objects managed to put into orbit.
In July, SpaceX was unable to put into orbit satellites Starlink because of the failure of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle. During the launch, one of the engines of the spacecraft failed, resulting in the satellites were deployed at a lower orbital altitude than originally planned.
Then the head of the company-developer Ilon Musk said that the satellites are not able to independently rise to the desired height. The malfunction of Falcon 9 was the first for the last seven years of uninterrupted operation of the rocket.
