An agreement between Russia and Belarus on mutual recognition of visas will come into force on January 11, 2025. This was stated on Friday, January 10, on the website of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

"On January 11, 2025, after both parties have completed the necessary domestic procedures, the <...> agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on mutual recognition of visas and on other issues related to the entry of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the territories of the states - parties to the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State will come into force," reads the statement.

The agreement between the countries allows foreigners and stateless persons to enter and stay on the territory of the states if they have a visa of one of them or an identity document. For citizens of Ukraine there is a special procedure for entry through certain checkpoints, notes "Gazeta.Ru".

Earlier, December 6, 2024, after the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a treaty on security guarantees between the two countries. It was specified that the document defines mutual allied obligations to ensure defense, protection of sovereignty, independence and constitutional order of Russia and Belarus, as well as inviolability of the territory of the external border of the Union State.
