Polish Consulate General in Los Angeles evacuated due to widespread fires

The Consulate General of Poland in Los Angeles has been evacuated due to large-scale forest fires in the state of California. This was reported by Polish TV channel TVN24 on January 10.
"Due to the growing threat of fire, the consulate of the Republic of Poland in Los Angeles has been evacuated. <...> Although the office is closed, a temporary passport can be issued if necessary," the channel quoted Consul General Paulina Kapuscinski as saying.
The diplomatic mission noted that employees are in constant contact with their clients. The opening of the consulate section in a safe location is being considered.
Meanwhile, current US President Joe Biden announced the dispatch of 400 federal firefighters and more than 30 helicopters and airplanes adapted for firefighting in California, the broadcaster added.
Multiple wildfires were reported in Los Angeles on January 8. The extinguishing continues, with strong winds fueling the fire and rescue crews lacking water. Due to the fires, Biden declared a major disaster declaration in the state. AccuWeather, a consulting firm, has predicted that the damage and losses from the disaster will be on the order of $52-57 billion.
Biden, holding a briefing on the situation with the fires on January 9 , offered to "light up" the acting vice-president of the country Kamala Harris, as the situation affected her personally. The latter, looking at the President in surprise, continued her speech.
On January 10, a man was arrested on suspicion of arson, which may have started the largest fire in Los Angeles. He could face a sentence of up to life in prison. According to the latest data, at least 10 people became victims of the disaster.
