The Russian delegation will again not participate in the meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos (Switzerland), which will be held from January 20 to 25. This was announced on Friday, January 10, by Russian Ambassador to the country Sergey Garmonin.

"Russia will not be represented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, as the organizers have again decided not to send invitations to representatives of our country," the diplomat clarified in a conversation with TASS.

According to Garmonin, the Russian side took this decision calmly and sees no need to dramatize the situation.

"Has Russia lost something? Hardly," the ambassador concluded, pointing out that, based on practice, major forums in the Swiss Alps "tend to turn out to be a flop."

He also noted that Moscow will continue to solve external problems in those formats that have proved to be promising, for example, within the framework of BRICS.

The WEF in Davos holds annual meetings with the participation of business representatives, political leaders and experts in various fields. Members are about a thousand large organizations and enterprises.

In 2024, the WEF in Davos was held from January 15 to 19. The Kremlin's official representative, Dmitriy Peskov, commenting on the meeting on the Ukrainian "peace formula" at the forum, said that it was talk for the sake of talk, such a process cannot be aimed at achieving results.
