The Ukrainian Defense Ministry's military plan for 2025 is unrealizable primarily due to the financial difficulties that Kiev is already experiencing, which will become even more acute after the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump. This was stated by military expert, retired Colonel Andrei Koshkin on Friday, January 10.

According to him, the problem lies in the subsidies that Ukraine receives for combat operations.

"They are already being assessed as finalized, because they no longer see any sense in allocating more substantial funds to the country. It is not known what amounts Ukraine receives now. Of course, they are given something, but it is not enough to solve all the tasks on defense and stabilization of the front line, which are announced in the plan of the Ministry of Defense," Koshkin said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.

The colonel noted that today the world is waiting for what position Trump will take after the inauguration. But it is already obvious that the allocation of those colossal sums, which were under his predecessor Joe Biden, will no longer be, said Koshkin. The situation is also aggravated by the fire disaster in Los Angeles, which will require a lot of attention and finances, the expert added.

"Now it is recalled that Los Angeles in 2022 transferred firefighting equipment to Ukraine: helmets, hoses, vests. Now they need all this themselves," he concluded.

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov during a meeting of the contact group to support Kiev at the military base "Ramstein" in Germany reported on Kiev's plans in 2025, among the key priorities - the stabilization of the front and strengthening defense capabilities, according to the website kp.ru.

According to him, the tasks also include strengthening the defense of the sky and sea routes, RT reports.

In turn, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said during a meeting on January 9 that the US will allocate a new $500 million military aid package to Ukraine, 360.ru reported. According to him, the Pentagon aims to deliver weapons to Ukraine by the end of January.

He specified that the next aid package to Ukraine will include anti-aircraft missiles, ammunition, air-to-ground missiles and other equipment to support Ukrainian F-16s, NSN reported. It is also planned to draw up maps with the help of which donors will be able to plan aid to Kiev in the future, the website aif.ru specifies.

Earlier, on January 7, The Washington Post said that Ukraine is unlikely to survive another year of hostilities with Russia. The author of the material expressed the opinion that Kiev is losing territory and troops, and the ability of Ukraine to exist as a sovereign state will determine the next few weeks, reports IA Regnum.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
