Crews of T-80BVM tanks of the Zapad group of forces have destroyed a stronghold, an ammunition depot and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in one of the areas of the special military operation (SMO). This was reported by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on Friday, January 10.

Tankers of the "West" group of troops on the front line support motorized rifle and assault units, delivering powerful fire strikes on the enemy. The fire is corrected with the help of drones, and the tankers use firing both from closed positions and direct fire, successfully hitting targets at long distances.

"This time the crews of T-80BVM tanks of the "West" troop group destroyed a stronghold, ammunition depot and AFU manpower in one of the directions in the zone of the SSE," the ministry said in a statement.

The crews, using the terrain, promptly arrived at the firing positions and quickly hit the identified targets. After that, the tanks left the positions, camouflaged themselves and prepared for new tasks.

It is specified that commands for firing and fire correction come from the command post, while using drones for guidance.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the armored group of the Guards Airborne Assault Regiment hit AFU personnel in a stronghold in the border area of Kursk region. After the defeat of the facility, a paratrooper from the assault units was landed, which by mobile groups continued the liquidation of the personnel of the Ukrainian formations.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
