Media predicted "shortest war ever" if the US invades Greenland

In the event of a US invasion of Greenland under the presidency of US leader-elect Donald Trump, it would be "the shortest war in history." About this on Friday, January 10, writes Politico.
"If Trump were to actually carry out his threat to annex Greenland by force, it would be the shortest war in the world, Greenland has no defensive capabilities," Ulrik Pram Gad, a senior fellow at the Danish Institute for International Studies, told the publication.
He noted that Trump's intentions are not yet clear whether this is a bluff, a threat or a diplomatic maneuver.
Christian Seby Christensen, a senior researcher at the Center for Military Studies at the University of Copenhagen, added that Denmark is well aware of its inability to defend Greenland, and if the 47th American president decides to seize it, he could do so very quickly.
The day before, Danish newspaper Politiken reported that the Danish authorities had approached Trump with an offer of dialog after his statements about buying Greenland. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said that people should treat the statements of the elected American leader more calmly. In his opinion, Trump can be taken seriously, but one should not take his words literally.
Earlier, on January 7, Greenland member of the Danish Parliament Aja Chemnitz said that Greenland is not for sale and will not be sold, but Denmark can cooperate more with the United States. The politician emphasized that building closer contacts with the US is as important for Greenland as maintaining cooperation with Denmark.
On the same day, Donald Trump Jr, son of the US president-elect, flew to Greenland for a personal visit. Trump Jr. commented on his upcoming trip in a podcast the day before, on January 6, noting that it was planned at a time when his father was once again talking about buying the island.
Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said on Dec. 25 that the country has prepared a new defense package to protect Greenland, with at least $1.5 billion earmarked.
Earlier, on December 22, 2024, Trump, announcing the appointment of an ambassador to Denmark, stressed that for the U.S. "ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity." The American politician expressed interest in buying Greenland from Denmark back in 2019. Then he received a rejection.
