The economic emergency regime in Transnistria has been extended until February 8. This was reported on January 10 in the Telegram channel of the Supreme Council of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (TMR).

"The DMR Supreme Council has approved the decree of the DMR President [Vadim Krasnoselsky] to extend the regime of economic emergency in the republic for another 30 days. Until February 8," the report said.

It is specified that the need for extension is connected with the cessation of gas supplies to the republic.

Earlier, on January 8, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development of the DMR Sergei Obolonik said that Transnistria is in a state of not only energy but also humanitarian crisis.

Before that, on December 9, 2024, Krasnoselsky signed a decree on the introduction of an economic state of emergency in Transnistria due to the risk of stopping gas transit through Ukraine.

On January 1, 2025, Gazprom stopped supplying fuel to Europe through the Ukrainian gas transportation system. After that, on January 3, the DMR president said that 1.5 thousand multi-storey and 72 thousand private houses in Transnistria were left without heat and gas.

Back in August last year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired in May 2024) said that Kiev would not prolong the gas transit agreement with Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that Moscow was not giving up gas supplies through Ukrainian territory.
