Pilots of the Northern Fleet's mixed aviation regiment on Il-38 airplanes have practiced anti-submarine missions over the waters of the Barents Sea. This was reported by the press service of the Northern Fleet on January 10.

"Pilots practiced tactical techniques of searching and tracking submarines using radar and hydroacoustic means of detecting underwater targets. <...> They also practiced the technique of piloting by instrumentation and the passage of a given course over an unoriented terrain," the report said.

It was specified that the crews improved their skills in difficult weather conditions.

The flights took place from the airfield in the Murmansk region.

Earlier, on January 2, crews of Su-35S super-maneuverable multi-purpose fighters with controlled thrust vectoring of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) performed air cover for VKS crews in the border areas of the Kursk Region. It was reported that with the help of a set of aviation weapons, the aircraft performed detection of enemy air defense facilities.
