Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 10 that Russia does not have certain conditions for negotiations with the United States.

"President [Russian President Vladimir] Putin has repeatedly stated his openness to contacts with international leaders, including US President[Joe Biden], and including [US President-elect] Donald Trump. The president himself has repeatedly talked about this, we have repeatedly talked about it, and no conditions are required for this," Peskov said at a briefing.

However, he said that there are no specifics about the meeting from the US president-elect's administration yet, despite Trump's willingness to solve problems through dialog.

According to Peskov, negotiations require the mutual desire of the parties, as well as the political will to dialog.

Earlier in the day, Trump announced the preparation of a meeting with Putin. According to the politician, it is time to end the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. In addition, the American leader-elect noted that he plans to hold all meetings after his inauguration on January 20.

Earlier, on January 7, the US President-elect expressed confidence in Putin's desire to hold talks with him on Ukraine.

On that day, Trump called President Biden's fiasco the cause of the conflict in Ukraine. The Republican assured that his team knows how to act in the context of this crisis.

The Russian president, in turn, told reporters on December 26 that Russia intends to end the conflict in Ukraine, not just freeze it.

Trump's team said on December 13 that it was holding talks with Ukrainian officials and the current White House administration on resolving the conflict. Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, then also allowed for the end of this crisis in the coming months.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which Putin announced the start of on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
