Trump released a video of Greenlanders asking Greenlanders to buy it

US President-elect Donald Trump has published a video where the inhabitants of Greenland ask him to buy the island. On January 10, Trump said on the social network Truth Social.
"Thank you to the incredible people of Greenland for such a good reception of my son Don Jr. and other representatives," Trump noted in the message.
He also expressed his hope to meet with the people of Greenland soon.
The video shows some of the islanders wearing Trump's MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement caps and answering questions. In the course of communication, it became clear that they consider Trump a strong leader and stated their willingness to become part of America.
It is noted that the video was shot by the group of the son of the politician - Donald Trump - Jr. who previously visited the island.
On the eve of the Danish newspaper Politiken reported that the authorities of the country addressed Trump with a proposal for dialog after his statements about the purchase of Greenland. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said that people should treat the statements of the elected American leader more calmly. In his opinion, Trump can be taken seriously, but one should not take his words literally.
Earlier, on January 7, a member of the Danish Parliament of Greenland, Aja Chemnitz, said that the island is not and will not be sold, but Denmark can cooperate more with the United States. The politician emphasized that establishing closer contacts with the US is as important for Greenland as maintaining cooperation with Denmark.
On the same day, Donald Trump Jr, son of the US president-elect, flew to Greenland for a personal visit. Trump Jr. commented on his upcoming trip in a podcast the day before, on January 6, noting that it was planned at a time when his father was once again talking about buying the island.
Earlier, on Dec. 22, 2024, Trump, announcing the appointment of an ambassador to Denmark, stressed that for the U.S. "ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity." The American politician expressed interest in buying Greenland from Denmark back in 2019. Then he received a rejection.
