- Zakharova after words about Kaliningrad advised Lithuanian politicians to learn history

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has responded to Lithuanian President Gynatas Nausseda's words about the Kaliningrad Region by advising Lithuanian politicians to study history. She published a corresponding post on January 10 in her Telegram channel.
Zakharova recalled Nauseda's statement that the region is part of "Little Lithuania."
"I recommend modern Lithuanian politicians to learn history and be concerned about the observance of human rights in their country, as well as to pile on the failing 'national' economy," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman wrote.
The day before, Nauseda called Russia's decision to re name a museum dedicated to Lithuanian poet Kristijonas Donelaitis, located in the Kaliningrad region, an attempt to rewrite history. He added that despite the complete disappearance of the original inhabitants of "Lithuania Minor", the last traces of Lithuanian culture in the city should be preserved.
Earlier, in December 2024, Zakharova said that Russia has announced pre-trial claims to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia because of discrimination against Russians in these countries. According to her, all available international judicial mechanisms will be used against states that discriminate on their territories.
