The current US authorities want to transfer arms to Ukraine as soon as possible before US President-elect Donald Trump takes office. This was reported by Norwegian political analyst Glen Disen to Izvestia on January 10.

"He (US President Joe Biden. - Ed.) wants to send as much as possible now, before Trump takes office, to prolong <conflict>, but also possibly sabotage Trump's efforts to end it," the political scientist believes.

According to him, the European side does not want the Ukrainian conflict to end, so it is doing everything to prolong the supply of aid. To this end, a meeting was organized at the Ramstein base in Germany - for the last shipment of financial aid and weapons to Kiev.

Dissen also suggested that restoring Ukraine's neutrality should be a key point in the peace agreement. He added that Trump's main mission to resolve the conflict is to shift the responsibility to Europe, rather than a full conclusion of peace on Ukrainian territory.

Earlier, on January 9, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that the US will allocate a new $500 million military aid package to Ukraine. According to him, the Pentagon aims to deliver weapons to Ukraine by the end of January.

State Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev, in a conversation with Izvestiya on December 26, pointed out that US citizens are tired of financing the Kiev regime. The politician admitted that with Biden 's departure from the White House, this assistance from Washington to Kiev may stop.

Trump said on December 8 that after the change of the American administration and his arrival as President, the United States may reduce the volume of military aid to Ukraine.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
