US may impose sanctions on ICC

The US House of Representatives has approved a bill to impose sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) in case of its proceedings against the United States and its allies. This was reported by C-SPAN TV channel on January 10.
It is specified that the project was supported by 243 members of the lower house of Congress and 140 opposed.
According to the document, persons contributing to the work of the ICC may be denied visas. Other restrictions include freezing of assets in the US and a ban on business relations with US citizens and companies.
According to TASS, the bill condemns the ICC's issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former head of the country's Defense Ministry Yoav Galant.
The International Criminal Court issued the arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant on November 21, 2024. The court ruled that the two politicians were responsible for war crimes against civilians. The United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Estonia expressed their willingness to comply with the court's decision, while the United States and France opposed it.
