The house of Hollywood actor Tom Hanks survived the fires in Los Angeles. This was reported by the New York Post (NYP) on Thursday, January 9.

Hanks lives in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, where one of the largest fires in recent years has been raging since Tuesday morning, January 7, with an area of more than 8,000 hectares.

In aerial photos in the possession of the newspaper, the actor's mansion on top of the hill looks unharmed. But the house, located a little higher, burned almost completely, you can see a cloud of smoke on the frames.

The actor's son, 34-year-old Chet, commented on the mass destruction on his page in the social network Instagram (owned by the corporation Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

"The neighborhood I grew up in burned to the ground. Pray for the Palisades," he wrote.

Damage already caused by the fires is estimated at $52-57 billion, according to the latest figures.

The fire in Palisades destroyed about 5.3 thousand buildings. It is specified that such amount of destruction makes it the third most destructive fire by the number of destroyed structures in the history of California. The fire claimed the lives of seven people: two died in Palisades, five - in Eaton.

Multiple wildfires have been reported in Los Angeles since January 7. Extinguishing continues, strong winds are fueling the fire, and rescue crews are short on water. In connection with the fires, the current US President Joe Biden declared a major disaster regime in the state of California.

Emergency services have urged residents to prepare to evacuate. Los Angeles resident Don Reiman told Izvestia that in the neighborhood where he lives, managed to defend only his house, and the rest of the buildings burned to the ground.

In addition, the fire destroyed the luxurious mansions of Hollywood actors and celebrities, including Anthony Hopkins, Adam Brody, Anna Faris, Eugene Levy, John Goodman, Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton. Many of these homes were worth millions of dollars.
