An armored group struck AFU personnel in a stronghold in Kursk region

An armored group of the Guards Airborne Assault Regiment has hit personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in a stronghold in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 10.

The armored group on BMD-4M paratrooper combat vehicles, having received the task, moved to the specified area early in the morning to destroy the specified targets.

The fire was conducted both by direct fire of fragmentation-fugitive ammunition in short bursts from a 30-millimeter automatic cannon and from a 100-millimeter cannon from closed firing positions.

After the defeat of the facility, a paratrooper from the assault units was landed and continued to engage the personnel of the Ukrainian formations in mobile groups.

On the capture of the stronghold, which was worked on by an armored group, followed by the assault groups of the compound, which occupied the stronghold and handed it over to reinforcement units.

"Bringing in infantry. At the same time, when we bring in, we work out a forest clearing at once, so that it would be easier for the infantry. We bring them as close as possible to where we can bring them, and then we go back to the other side. The infantry does its business," said the gunner-operator of the BMD-4M with the call sign Cross.

Earlier, on January 9, the Defense Ministry reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 190 soldiers in the Kursk direction over the day. In addition, the Ukrainian army lost an infantry fighting vehicle, an armored personnel carrier, two armored fighting vehicles, five vehicles, an artillery gun, four mortars, an electronic warfare station and an ammunition depot.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
