A somnologist has revealed a way to treat snoring

Snoring - a sound that occurs in the nasopharynx during sleep due to the vibration of the soft palate and palatine uvula - can be treated surgically, but it is not always possible. This was reported by Pavel Kudinov, a somnologist and member of the Russian Society of Somnologists, on Thursday, January 9.
"We are talking about the zone where snoring and respiratory arrest (apnea) occurs: above the root of the tongue, at the level of the soft palate, almond, and can occur behind the root of the tongue - below. And there already surgically we can not help anything," - explained the expert in conversation with "Radio 1".
According to the expert, the first thing you need to do respiratory monitoring to find out whether snoring is harmless. Then it is necessary to see in which place the detected problem occurs.
"The ENT doctor should look with an endoscope through the nose and say whether it can be operated on. If it can't, then a special technique called 'mask ventilation' is used, we inflate the airways and let them close," Kudinov concluded.
On January 2, somnologist, MD, professor Roman Buzunov said that it is necessary to compensate for the sleep deficit that you get if you go to bed after New Year's Eve in the morning, according to the website kp.ru.
Earlier, on December 27, 2024, Kudinov told about the unexpected danger of snoring. The specialist noted that snoring is often an external sign of autonomous breathing in sleep. Narrowing of the airways can also lead to respiratory arrest in sleep.
The specialist explained that poor quality sleep leads to weight gain, which, in turn, provokes apnea - stop breathing in sleep, reports 360.ru.
Earlier, December 16, somnologist said that Christmas lights can cause insomnia, as the flickering light causes the brain to analyze information, which negatively affects relaxation and the process of falling asleep, reports NSN.
December 31, 2024 doctor-somnologist, candidate of medical sciences Mikhail Poluektov told the agency of city news "Moscow" that a single violation of sleep - for example, on New Year's Eve - is normally tolerated by a healthy body.
Earlier, on October 28, neurologist Vladimir Martynov said that adults should sleep 7-9 hours a day, reports IA Regnum.
