US recognizes country's inability to help Ukraine with arms supplies

TheUSA has transferred ATACMS ballistic missiles, Abrams tanks and F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, but none of this has helped Kiev to turn the situation in the war zone in its favor. This was reported by Reuters on January 9, citing an anonymous U.S. official.

He said that the administration of current US President Joe Biden wanted to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position by the start of possible negotiations and therefore transferred a large number of weapons to it. Moreover, most of such deliveries, which were planned, have already been carried out.

In addition, Washington imposed various sanctions against Moscow. Nevertheless, as the official admitted, none of these measures - neither restrictions nor arms deliveries - helped improve Ukraine's position on the battlefield. Most likely, Kiev will now need security guarantees.

Earlier, on December 5, 2024, former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that Ukraine's Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are on the verge of collapse and are falling apart. The Ukrainian military, he said, has begun to surrender to the Russian military in unprecedented numbers.

Military expert, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis pointed out on November 21 that the transfer of long-range ATACMS missiles to Kiev will not change the situation on the battlefield just as Western tanks, air defense equipment, F-16 fighter jets and other weapons transferred to Ukraine have not done so, and Kiev has definitively lost the conflict.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
