A Russian living in California told of the fire's destruction of Malibu

In Los Angeles (California) due to forest fires, the coastal city of Malibu has almost completely burned down. This was reported on January 9 by a Russian Egor Ushkov, who lives in Hollywood.
"Now Malibu no longer exists, although it is insanely beautiful there, beautiful landscapes, very expensive houses. Although Malibu is the ocean, even from my point you can see how much everything is burning there," he told "Gazeta.Ru".
According to Ushkov, residents try not to leave their homes and wear masks because of the strong air pollution, the level of which is much higher than the permissible norms.
He also noted that strong winds are raging in the city, which makes the work of firefighters difficult - the hurricane is tearing down the roofs of old buildings, road signs and trees. People are still without power in some neighborhoods.
"Pasadena, which is about an hour away, is also burning very badly right now. There is a version about arson, but I can't say it's for sure," Ushkov said.
In addition, the Russian reported the introduction of evacuations due to the threat of fire. People can apply to temporary accommodation centers (TAC), where they will be provided with first aid, lodging and food. Ushkov specified that there is no panic among Malibu residents.
Numerous forest fires in Los Angeles were reported the day before. Extinguishing continues, strong winds fuel the fire, rescue teams lack water. In connection with the fires, the current US President Joe Biden declared a major disaster regime in the state of California.
Emergency services urged residents to prepare for evacuation. In its zone was the residence of the current Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris, who said that with all her heart sympathizes with those affected by the fire. Los Angeles resident Don Reiman told Izvestia that in the neighborhood where he lives, managed to defend only his house, and the rest of the buildings burned to the ground.
In addition, the fire destroyed the luxurious mansions of Hollywood actors and celebrities, including Anthony Hopkins, Adam Brody, Anna Faris, Eugene Levy, John Goodman, Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton. Many of these homes were worth millions of dollars.
