Zakharova jokingly urged Zelensky to provide U.S. assistance in putting out the fires

In a number of fake aid initiatives similar to the international food security program Grain from Ukraine, the country's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expired in May 2024, should present another one dedicated to US assistance in extinguishing wildfires in California. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on January 9.
She recalled that the United States in February 2024, through the United States Agency for International Development(USAID) transferred to 16 Ukrainian firefighting units a large amount of various equipment for extinguishing fires, including motorized pumps, fire extinguishers and hydraulic rescue tools.
"Whom only Zelensky did not "help". He even promised to feed the starving world. Grain from Ukraine has already happened. Now by logic they should announce another fake initiative - Rain from Ukraine," Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel.
She pointed out that the only "program" that does not really exist, but was really executed by Kiev with the support of Anglo-Saxon supporters of liberalism - Pain from Ukraine ("Pain from Ukraine").
Earlier in the day, the son of US President-elect Donald Trump Jr. rebuked the California authorities for giving Ukraine firefighting equipment they deemed unnecessary - it would have come in very handy in the extinguishing process now. In addition, Trump Jr. called on the state's governor Gavin Newsom to resign.
Numerous wildfires in Los Angeles were reported the day before, the fire started in the Eaton Canyon neighborhood. Extinguishing continues, strong winds are fueling the fire, rescue crews lack water. In connection with the fires, US President Joe Biden declared a major disaster regime in the state of California.
Emergency services urged residents to prepare for evacuation. In its zone was the residence of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, who said that with all her heart sympathizes with those affected by the fire. Los Angeles resident Don Reiman told Izvestia that in the neighborhood where he lives, managed to defend only his house, and the rest of the buildings burned to the ground.
In addition, the fire destroyed the luxurious mansions of Hollywood actors and celebrities, such as Anthony Hopkins, Adam Brody, Anna Faris, Eugene Levy, John Goodman, Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton. Many of these homes were worth millions of dollars.
