American billionaire Ilon Musk on Thursday, January 9, in an interview with Stagwell Chairman Mark Penn, said that humanity has exhausted the body of knowledge for training artificial intelligence (AI) models.

"We have now exhausted basically the cumulative amount of human knowledge in training artificial intelligence. This happened mostly last year," TechCrunch quoted him as saying.

Musk noted that for the development of artificial intelligence, it is necessary to use data generated by the AI itself, which will lead to "self-learning". He also believes that by the end of this year, artificial intelligence could surpass the abilities of humans.

Earlier on June 19, 2024, Musk said that the chance of artificial intelligence (AI) destroying humanity ranges from 10 to 20 percent, but urged to remain optimistic. He noted that the spread of AI could cause mass depression and reflexivity.

Musk had earlier cited the same probability of humanity's demise from the development of AI at the Great AI Debate seminar on April 1. In March, he shared his opinion that by 2029, artificial intelligence will be smarter than any human on Earth.
