- Media has learned of Netanyahu's abandonment of plans to travel to the U.S. for Trump's inauguration

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not attend the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump. This was reported by The Times of Israel on January 9, citing an aide to the Israeli leader.
The publication noted that officials had recently said that the trip would take place.
The reason for the abandonment of plans was not specified.
Earlier, on December 31, 2024, Netanyahu left the hospital, against doctors' recommendations, for an important budget vote in the Knesset (parliament). He underwent prostate surgery on December 29. It was noted that the politician looked "exhausted and tired" at the plenary session.
Before that, on December 14, Netanyahu talked to Trump about the events in Syria and the release of hostages-Israelis. The Israeli leader said that work to return hostages from the Gaza Strip is ongoing and recalled that he promised a year ago to change the Middle East, noting that Israel is keeping its promise.
Trump's inauguration ceremony will take place on January 20, 2025.
