Russia categorically condemns the attack by militants, presumably of the terrorist group Boko Haram (banned in Russia), on the palace of the legitimate president of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, in N'Djamena. The Russian Foreign Ministry said on January 9.
"Moscow strongly condemns the terrorist sortie directed against the legitimate leadership of the Republic of Chad," the Russian ministry said in a statement on its website.
The ministry recalled that, according to information from the Chadian authorities, the situation in the country is under control.
The press attaché of the Russian Embassy in the republic, Yulia Gnezdilova, told RIA Novosti that Russians were not hurt in the terrorist attack in N'Djamena, and the incident itself was of a localized nature. In addition, the security measures of the diplomatic mission are at a sufficient level.
Theshooting near the presidential palace in N'Djamena took place the day before. The French agency AFP reported that in this attack one person was killed and 18 militants were eliminated. In addition, three people from the forces repelling the attack were injured.
Chad's ambassador to Russia, Adam Beshir Mahamoud, emphasized on January 9 that the republic's political stability was safe after the attack.
