To avoid fraudulent loans, it is necessary to check credit history every month, and if "someone else's" debt is found, one should contact the financial organization that issued the loan or credit. Elman Mehtiyev, founder of the Kredchek service, told Izvestia on January 9 about the risks of making fraudulent loans.

"The creditor has to fulfill the law in any case, on any fact of credit history, including which can later be defined as fraudulent, he is obliged to transfer information to the BCI. The law does not oblige creditors to transfer all information to all bureaus at once, nor does it oblige them to transfer information to only one BCI," Mehtiyev explained.

According to him, more than 60% of Russian citizens have never checked their credit history, regardless of whether they have had a loan in their life or not. The specialist advises checking credit history monthly and, if there is no desire to spend money, to use free services.

"It is not enough to check data from the history in only one or even two BCIs - a fraudster can take a loan or credit in an organization that reports to a third or even a fourth bureau," Mehtiyev said.

According to the specialist, personal data can be easily found not only in databases obtained by hackers as a result of hacking, but also on the expanse of social networks and loyalty programs. Using the account of the portal "Gosuslugi" fraudsters can get loans in financial organizations up to 15 thousand rubles.

The expert noted: if a "foreign" debt is found in the credit history, it is necessary to apply to the financial organization that issued this loan or credit, with a request to recognize this debt as invalid (unissued), since it was not taken. It is advisable to provide confirmation that an application has already been filed with the police to identify the persons who used your personal data illegally and received the money. It is also important to explain why this loan or credit was taken out by another person and ask the creditor to provide the documents on the basis of which the funds were issued. If the creditor refuses to solve this problem or after a few weeks the debt will still be listed in the credit history, it is worth contacting the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

"From March 1, 2025, you can apply for a ban on the issuance of a loan or credit ("self-ban") through the portal "Gosusgoservices". And if such a ban will be listed in the credit history, then even if someone tries to take money using your data, he will receive a refusal from the lender," summarized Mehtiyev.

Earlier, on December 11 last year, Nikita Bliss, head of information security at Compare, told Izvestia about what to do in case of missing funds from a bank account. According to him, if the amount on the account has decreased, you can use the bank's mobile application, order an account statement or contact the support service.
