The AFU lost up to 190 servicemen on the Kursk direction over the day

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost up to 190 servicemen in the Kursk region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday, January 9.

"Over the day the AFU losses amounted to up to 190 servicemen, an infantry fighting vehicle, an armored personnel carrier, two armored fighting vehicles, five vehicles, an artillery gun, four mortars, an electronic warfare station and an ammunition depot were destroyed," the ministry said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry specified that the units of the "North" group of troops defeated the formations of the tank, two mechanized, two airborne assault brigades and two brigades of territorial defense of the enemy in 14 areas.

In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost more than 50,300 fighters, 294 tanks, and 1,435 vehicles.

Earlier in the day, an Army aviation crew on a Ka-52 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group struck air missiles at AFU manpower, armored vehicles and a stronghold in the border area of Kursk region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
