Eco-action to recycle Christmas trees will be held in Khabarovsk
From January 14 to January 31, Khabarovsk will host the environmental campaign "Second Life of a New Year Tree". Residents of the city are offered to give holiday trees that have served their time a second life, to take care of animals and the environment.
The organizers of the action are Sysoyev's Priamursky Zoo, regional operators of waste disposal "RegStroyCom" and "Zenit-DV".
The zoo administration told AmurMedia IA that coniferous trees have many uses. Thus, crushed needles are a useful vitamin feed for ungulates, and coniferous trees are used to build cages.
According to experts, thanks to plant antibiotics, spruce trees disinfect the space. Many animals perceive the tree as a toy: some ungulates scratch their horns against the large branches of spruce trees, and predators use tree trunks as scratching posts.
Khabarovsk residents are offered to bring Christmas trees to the zoo on their own, but on condition that the trees are completely cleaned of decorations, tinsel and metal fasteners. There are local collection points in the city (on Vakhova and Shatova streets).
In turn, the regional Ministry of Culture drew attention to the important ecological and educational value of the action. In particular, it attracts the attention of the population to the issues of separate collection of garbage and recycling, increases environmental literacy.
Earlier, experts of the network of goods for construction and home improvement "Lemana PRO" told how to properly utilize wood and where it can be handed over. So, you can take the tree to special points of reception for recycling. In major cities there are temporary points of reception of Christmas trees within the project "Christmas tree cycle". For the convenience of citizens, a map of collection points in Moscow is available on the project's website. New Year trees acceptance points are also available on the Moscow government's open data portal. In St. Petersburg there are both temporary collection points and ecotaxis for collecting Christmas trees.
