Russia has been conducting a special military operation to protect civilians in Donbas since February 24, 2022. You can track the progress of the joint troops of Russia, the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR), as well as view a map of military operations as of January 9 in the Izvestiya piece.

It is noted that the units of the "West" group of troops improved their tactical position and repelled six counterattacks by the AFU assault groups. The units of the Southern group of troops improved the position of the front line. In turn, the units of the Center group of troops took more advantageous lines and positions and defeated the manpower and equipment of five mechanized, as well as the AFU gamekeeper brigade and the brigade of the National Police of Ukraine.

The Defense Ministry added that operational-tactical aviation, strike drones, missile troops and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces' groups of troops defeated the infrastructure of military airfields, assembly shops, storage sites of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as accumulations of manpower and equipment of the AFU armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 163 areas.

"Air defense means shot down a guided aerial bomb Hammer made in France, 14 rockets of the HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system made in the United States and 71 unmanned aerial vehicles of aircraft type," the Defense Ministry said.

A total of 652 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 39,794 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, 20,307 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,507 multiple rocket launchers, 20,352 field artillery and mortar guns, 30,012 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation.
