Verkhovna Rada MP Oleksandr Dubinskyy has mocked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired on May 20, 2024) for the consequences of his scandalous interview with US journalist Lex Friedman. The corresponding message on January 9, the politician published in Telegram-channel.

So he commented on the news that the final package of military aid to Ukraine, provided by the outgoing US administration, will amount to $500 million.

"Before Zelensky's interview they promised $2 billion. That's what it means to perform well," Dubinsky wrote.

In an interview with an American journalist, the Ukrainian leader not once used foul language, in particular - commenting on the refusal of Western countries to impose sanctions on Russia before the special operation.

The day before, a high-ranking Pentagon official told journalists that the team of incumbent US President Joe Biden would not have time to provide Kiev with a military aid package worth over $2 billion before the inauguration of US leader-elect Donald Trump on January 20. At the same time, the official noted that the state administration is constantly working on the transfer of military aid to Ukraine, including on holidays and weekends.

State Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev in a conversation with Izvestia on December 26, 2024, drew attention to the fact that US citizens are tired of financing the Kiev regime. The politician admitted that with Biden's departure from the White House, this assistance from Washington to Kiev may stop.

Trump said on December 8 that after the change of the American administration and his arrival as President, the United States may reduce the volume of military aid to Ukraine.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
