A conflict Amur tiger was caught in the south of Primorye, the Ministry of Forestry, Environmental Protection, Wildlife and Natural Resources of the region reported in its Telegram channel on Thursday, January 9.

The large male went out into populated areas and attacked domestic animals. No attacks on people were recorded.

Immediately after the capture, the animal was examined by veterinarians. No injuries or diseases were found. The tiger was sent to the rehabilitation center of the public organization "Tiger", located in the village of Alekseevka.

It is tentatively planned to return the animal to its natural habitat, choosing a sparsely populated area with a rich food base. The final decision has not been made yet.

Specialists emphasized that the reason for the appearance of wild animals in populated areas is often unsupervised grazing of farm animals and keeping dogs in unfenced areas. The tiger was captured after the local population heeded the recommendations, including dog owners began locking pets in enclosures and outbuildings at night.

"Trapping is done using veterinary drugs for general anesthesia of animals and remote pneumatic injectors. Even with the use of the most modern drugs immobilization of the animal occurs after 5-15 minutes after administration of the drug. When a needle hits soft tissues, the animal experiences an outbreak of aggression; therefore, the capture of tigers in the territory of populated areas is not carried out for safety reasons. The work on capture is carried out in forest areas adjacent to settlements," - said representatives of the hunting supervision.

Earlier, on December 28, it was reported that in the territory of Primorsky Krai in 2024 about 600 conflict situations with predatory animals were recorded. Seven animals were withdrawn from the wild.

December 26, the center "Amur Tiger" reported that rare Far Eastern leopards, according to preliminary data, attacked dogs in three villages in Primorye. A day before that, it became known about an accident involving a tiger in the Khasansky district - it was hit by a Toyota SUV, but the predator survived the collision and fled into the forest. Later, it was found using a quadrocopter; apparently, the animal was not significantly injured.
