Servicemen of assault units of the Southern Military District (South Military District), who signed the first contract with the Russian Defense Ministry, have started exercises in the new 2025 year. This was reported by the press service of the military district on January 9.

The attack aircraft are studying the peculiarities of defense and offensive operations when facing a conventional enemy in the training center of the South Military District deployed in the Stavropol Territory. Classes are held in specially equipped trenches and trenches, on open ground and in forest belts.

The department said that the training of assault units takes from several weeks to a month, during which the personnel are trained in the possession of various types of weapons, tactical medicine, engineering training and other disciplines.

"All of our training takes place in all weather conditions. Our training is hard, but it is worth it, that is, the instructors squeeze all the juices out of the fighters, as much as they can. And it pays off for the guys who go directly to the front line," commented a serviceman with the call sign Lyam.

Upon completion of training, the attack aircraft undergo combat alignment, after which they are sent to the zone of the SSO to perform combat tasks.

Earlier, on December 26 last year, the Defense Ministry showed footage of tank crews training in the Krasnodar region. The training of T-72B3 tank crews begins with driving and first firing. The tankers overcome a terrain area with natural obstacles, take positions and then, at the instructor's command, fire from a 14.5 mm caliber barrel and a PKTM machine gun at a distance of 800-1200 meters. The firing is direct fire.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
